Kirk Balk Academy's named Careers Leader is Mr S Moore, Assistant Principal. Mr Moore is responsible for the strategic leadership of CEIAG across the Academy. He reports to and advises SLT and Governors on policy, strategy and resources for CEIAG.
Miss Dakin, is our designated CEIAG Co-ordinator who co-ordinates and monitors the delivery of our careers programme. She provides careers guidance interviews with students and operates an open door policy for students to drop in. Miss Dakin is available to support parents upon request. Miss Dakin is qualified to Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance.
The Academy also works in close partnership with Barnsley Targeted Information Advice and Guidance (TIAG) Service. Miss Walker, TIAG Adviser, offers independent careers guidance interviews at key times throughout the academic year. She also works closely with our SEND Co-ordinator. Miss Walker is qualified to Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance.
All careers advice and guidance given is person centred, impartial, unbiased and confidential (within legal confines) and meets professional standards of practice. Students are also encouraged to access the National Careers Service via a link on the academy website.
At Kirk Balk Academy, all staff contribute to CEIAG through their roles as Tutors, Subject Teachers, Curriculum Leaders, and Learning Managers or as a Careers Professional. Staff training is provided on a regular basis and updates are given in briefing or Professional Development sessions.
