Kirk Balk Academy celebrates GCSE results

Students at Kirk Balk Academy, one of ten secondary Academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, have achieved their best ever GCSE results.

The Academy has also shown a strong improvement in the number of passes in English and Maths.A staggering 73% students overall achieved a pass in English and Maths, demonstrating a significant improvement on last year's results. In addition, 55% of students achieved what is now called a strong pass in both English and Maths, results that in terms of attainment will potentially place the academy in the top 10% of similar schools nationally. Results in other subjects are also strong in what has been a big year in terms of national examination reforms.

Dean Buckley, Principal of Kirk Balk Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying "We are so happy for our great students who really deserve these results. Their accomplishments represent the culmination of years of hard work and I'm absolutely delighted with their achievements.I'd like to express my thanks to the staff and the Senior Leadership Team for their continued efforts - the results are testament to their continuous support, energy and enthusiasm.I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents, carers, governors, wider community and the Trust Board for their continued support - our students and staff couldn't succeed without your help".
