Course Description

The BTEC Music syllabus is a new and exciting course ideally suited to students who are creative, imaginative and enjoy performing Music. It is essential for students considering a career in Music, Music Industry or the Performing Arts; but it is also excellent for developing communication, organisation skills and self-confidence. Students will develop their knowledge of Music skills through a series of professionally designed workshops covering topics such as; vocal skills, composition and The Music Industry. They will develop their own skills in Performing, both individually and in group work exploring a variety of Music styles, genres and performers.


Department Statement

The BTEC Music course is a popular and exciting course in which students are able to experience a variety of performing opportunities; from writing to composition, from classical to contemporary Music styles. Students will thoroughly enjoy the creativity, group work, independence and musical development, in fact, the whole Music performance experience!


Careers

Employers value staff that is able to communicate effectively both verbally and confidently with creativity and independence. Music creates the perfect platform for this, giving students many opportunities to express themselves in an imaginative and creative way. The course is the equivalent to 1 GCSE grade A-C and is recognised by all colleges as part of a suite of qualifications. The Course leads into higher Education Music courses and ultimately into careers in Music, Media, Teaching, Record Labels and the Music Industry.
